Sir Edmund Hillary and Louise Rose were married in the chapel of Louise's former school on her 23rd birthday. It was to be a very successful and happy marriage.

I quickly learned how fortunate I was to have such a wife: warm and loving, very independent, with a great love of the outdoors and a multitude of good friends.
